چکیده

The Research Proposal is a part of the project: Middleware Services for Management of Shared State in Large-Scale Distributed Interactive Applications (MiSMoSS). MiSMoSS is funded by the Research Council of Norway and is Project No. 15992/431. The project is expected to lead to three PhD theses supervised by faculty members Carsten Griwodz, Paal Halvorsen and Ellen Munthe-Kaas in the Networks and Distributed Systems Group. The Research Proposal recognizes the problem of object location management and will search for fault tolerance mechanisms along with Quality of Service management to enhance the performance in Large-Scale Networked Virtual Environments. The Research Proposal is meant to lead to the formal PhD Thesis Proposal by the candidate.

Stability Assessment Metamorphic Approach (SAMA) for Effective Scheduling based on Fault Tolerance in Computational Grid

Grid Computing allows coordinated and controlled resource sharing and problem solving in multi-institutional, dynamic virtual organizations. Moreover, fault tolerance and task scheduling is an important issue for large scale computational grid because of its unreliable nature of grid resources. Commonly exploited techniques to realize fault tolerance is periodic Checkpointing that periodically ...

Distributed Mechanisms for Enabling Virtual Sensors in Service Oriented Intelligent Environments

Sensor fusion and virtual sensors have been extensively used in applications requiring the use of high-level abstract information derived from multiple sensory inputs, ranging from defence systems to intelligent environments. In this paper, we present distributed mechanisms for enabling virtual sensors in intelligent environments using service oriented sensor networks (SOSNs). A SOSN brings the...

Improving the palbimm scheduling algorithm for fault tolerance in cloud computing

Cloud computing is the latest technology that involves distributed computation over the Internet. It meets the needs of users through sharing resources and using virtual technology. The workflow user applications refer to a set of tasks to be processed within the cloud environment. Scheduling algorithms have a lot to do with the efficiency of cloud computing environments through selection of su...

Infrastructure for Virtual Enterprises in Large-Scale Open Systems

This paper presents SALE, a middleware platform for mission-critical applications built upon the CORBA architecture and its extensions for real-time (RTCORBA), fault tolerance (FT-CORBA) and security (CORBASec). The SALE platform provides different reliability, security and real-time properties, which are specified by applications as quality of service (QoS) requirements. Preliminary results ob...

Adaptation to Connectivity Loss in Pervasive Computing Environments

Pervasive computing environments aim at providing users with advanced services, dynamically composed our of networked services. In these open environments, availability of specific networked service instances cannot be guaranteed over time as users move and services leave and join the network accordingly. A major challenge in pervasive environments is thus to maintain services functionalities d...
